Ocean Trips
Half-Day Deep Sea Fishing Charters
Year-round the abundance of species in the ocean surrounding St Francis Bay provides us with some of the country’s most successful fishing excursions. St Francis Safaris offer customers a fishing experience geared to suit all levels of ability. Our trips are loads of fun and we will keep you busy by, offering a mixture of trawling and bottom fishing. Owner Tim Christy is a Protea fisherman and record holder in many categories he has fished these waters for over 30 years and has his finger on the pulse. His knowledge of the region’s best fishing spots/marks, consistent upgrading of equipment and adaption of latest techniques has proven to lure customers and celebrities such as Robson Greenback year after year.

The morning session is from 7 am – 1 pm

Big Game Fishing Charters
A full day out +/- 15 – 30 nm out into the deep. Targeting Yellow Fin Tuna which range in size from 20 – 100 kg. This is a full fishing experience from start to finish. We leave the harbour early and run out to the warm waters of the Aghalus current where we drop the big guns and trawl. St Francis Safaris have an outstanding reputation for loading big Tuna, we pride ourselves on having been the top boat in terms of the number of Tuna caught over several years. We spend a lot of time and effort ensuring that we have the best tackle (tackle failure is unacceptable), the best spread and that we are on top of our game providing our keen fisherman a day to remember for ever. WHALE WATCHING CRUISE FROM JUNE – NOV – We are the only licensed operator in St Francis Bay
Jump on board with St Francis Safaris for an outstanding experience that promises to leave you feeling awestruck. We specialise in close encounters with the majestic Southern Right and Humpback Whales whose migration route is directly off the nearby point. This is the 2nd most southern point of Africa, so we are blessed to have large numbers of Whales passing at a close range. From June through to November the Whales can be seen putting on a spectacular show swimming with the numerous pods of a dolphin who reside here year-round along with penguins, seals and a variety of other bird and marine life. Your experienced skipper will provide you with interesting facts about the Marine life encountered and lots of local history. This is a truly outstanding marine experience suitable for the entire family.

The Eco Cruise
Out into the bay, we cruise up the coast taking in the beauty of the scenic reserve, sand dunes and beaches along the way up to Shark point where we will stop to check out, the seals lazing on the rocks. Keep a close eye out for sharks they are not easy to spot but they are here. June through to November we experience a high success rate spotting Southern right and humpback whales who can be seen swimming on their annual migration south. Occasionally if the whales are in the bay, we have a close encounter. (For a close encounter see our Whale Watching Cruises) Numerous pods of dolphins reside here year-round along with penguins, seals and a variety of other bird and marine life. Trips can be enjoyed by anyone keen on an outstanding marine experience.

Canal & River Trips
Canal Cruise
An ideal way to take in the opulent homes and activities around the canals. Stop along the way and take a walk on Secret Beach or a quick swim. A relaxed family outing which is suitable for all ages. Or hire the boat for a corporate or party cruise

Krome River Cruise
A wonderful, relaxing way to take in the spectacular scenery, bird and wildlife along the banks of the Krome River. Bring along a picnic basket with food and drinks (self-catered) and we will stop upriver at one of the little inlets where you can picnic and swim.

River Fishing Charters
For the fly fisherman – Take in the spectacular scenery, bird, and wildlife along the banks of the Krome River whilst enjoying some fly fishing or light tackle fishing. We provide all tackle as well as an experienced guide/skipper. You can expect Garrick, Cob and Grunter to be on the menu. Trips are 3-4 hours in length.
