After a long journey, and a perilous beginning at life, Zion-Neev has made it safely to Simbonga Game Reserve & Sanctuary
Ripped from his mother at an awfully young age, trafficked into Israel, sold multiple times on social media, handed over from one person to the next…
Zion-Neev can now finally relax and begin adjusting to his forever home; something he’s never known until now.
Unfortunately, the illegal animal trade is thriving in all parts of the world. Luckily for Zion-Neev, the right people were able to save him from a terrible and uncertain future. We are so proud to be his home and we cannot wait to see him grow and become the brave, bold, and courageous lion he was born to be.
We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who made Zion-Neev’s journey possible. This beautiful boy has had a hard start to life; but more importantly, he’s had so many good people fighting for his future.
Zion-Neev can call Simbonga home for 6 months now. He is rarely seen on a tour as he much prefers hiding in the bushes and watching from a distance, which is exactly why we construct our enclosures as we do… to offer our rescued animals the option to finally choose for themselves what THEY want. For most of our residents, it’s the first time in their life they’ve been able to choose for themselves, and that is beautiful.
People first started visiting Jeffreys Bay back in 1894 when the first trading store opened it’s doors. In 1968 our town was granted municipal status. It has seen massive growth since.
